Pin Head Beret

I'm about 75% done with the Wingspan and it's beautiful but boring to knit.  It's all garter stitch so it's knit, knit, knit, knit, knit................aaarrrgh!

I was watching old episodes of 30 Rock on Netflix and suddenly stared, transfixed, at Liz Lemon on a cold and windy March day in NYC, wearing a beautiful blue beret on her tiny little pin head.

And I NEEDED a beautiful blue beret to sit enchantingly on my own tiny little pin head.

Meet my next project (or one similar - no pattern picked out yet):

Back to Normal Life...

I'm back from two months of vacationing in Maryland and North Carolina and visiting with my two youngest children and various relatives.

My mom is still going strong at age 96!  She's in a nursing home, but still lively and alert, and she still manages to crack us all up.  I really enjoyed spending time with her and my sister and brother-in-law.

And my two youngest girls are awesome and put up with me for a LONG time.  While I was in Maryland, I visited Woolwinders in Rockville, Maryland and bought this lush Madelintosh sock yarn:

The color is Spectrum and it is lovely.  I'm using it for a wingspan shawl.  While I was in North Carolina, I discovered that my nephew also knits!  He's 12 years younger than me and is a hiking, sports enthusiast, so I was surprised that he also loves to knit!  We decided we'd both do wingspans and compare notes.  I have the first triangle completed.

You can view my progress at Ravelry - my handle there is "altogirl."  You can see my projects and follow what I'm doing.

I had a wonderful vacation and now I'm happy to be home and back to normal life - knitting and quilting and singing.  I'll be starting a new baby quilt soon and hopefully, opening my Etsy shop.  Stay tuned!
